Concrete School Design Intern

From May 2024 - September 2024 I assisted artists Tamara Johnson and Trey Burns in teaching and assisting multimedia artists from all over the country at their sculpture park in the heart of Dallas.

The images above feature the mixing and pouring of silicone to create the molds for practice tiles. Artists were given the opportuinty to test different concrete mixtures using local aggregrate, sand, and cement to make concrete. Pieces of foam were used to leave in the mold to create designs in the tiles. These designs where melted into the foam using a hot wire.

My Dream Techno Dome (Valentina Jager)

Stray Pathways (Tatiana Sky)

In September of 2024, the artists who attended concrete school were invited back to create and install their own sculptures featuring concrete in the park. During their time back I was able to assist artists whenever help was needed while they worked on their pieces. The piece that I was able to assist with the most was My Dream Techo Dome by Valentina Jager, her piece featured over 20 poured and dyed concrete bricks. We had to carve the foam around each letter featured on the bricks to make them legible to be put into the ground and poured with more concrete. The overall theme of this exhibition is to make visitors question how we construct reality and live within it.
